Moisture and hearing aids do not go together. Moisture kills electronics and a hearing aid is a tiny electronic machine built for hearing. So how do you keep moisture away from your hearing aid? Here are a few helpful tips and tricks to keep moisture out of your hearing aid.

Keep a Dry Container with You

Weather changes constantly and with it comes moisture. You could be walking outside on a beautiful sunny day and the next minute a torrential downpour hits and you have no cover. The best bet in this situation or any wet weather situation, including snow, is to take out your hearing aids and place them in a safe dry place; ideally you have a dry container with you, but if not you can temporarily use your purse or a sunglasses case. If they do happen to get wet, wipe them clean once home or in a safe dry place, open the battery drawer and take out the battery and let air-dry.

Plan when Being Active

If you work out at the gym or at home a lot it should be noted that you should not wear your hearing aid while performing extensive physical activity. Not only is there is moisture aspect but you could lose it, drop it, break it or it could fall out of your ear due to the sweat causing damage. Keep it in a safe place until you are finished your workout and shower.

Take them Out Before Getting in the Shower

Try to remember to take out your hearing aids before getting into the shower or washing your face. Remember to remove your hearing aids before getting your haircut or getting into the hot tub or bath. To keep away from your dog’s mouth or even the baby’s mouth. To watch where you place them in the bathroom so ensure they don’t fall into the tub, the toilet or the sink. Watch when opening the oven or going to the spa or sauna. Watch when shoveling the snow or going to the beach. Just remember to keep an eye out every day for possible moisture causing issues.
